About Me

Welcome to my blog!
I am so happy to have you stop by and learn what goes on in my classroom- and life!

I started blogging in November 2013 after getting over the initial 'scare' of what blogging would involve!  I had no idea where to begin and was so grateful for the immense help from Kourtney Payton from Mrs. Payton's Precious Kindergarteners!  She guided me- hand over hand- from many states away!  I have been hooked ever since!  In May 2015 I realized I was serious about blogging and finally took the plunge to have my blog professionally designed!  I love the way it has turned out!

I love sharing ideas of what works (and doesn't) in my classroom and helping teachers provide meaningful and developmentally appropriate opportunities for their students!

I originally went to school to be an Art Therapist (I wanted to be an Art Teacher but my guidance counselors told me I would never find a job!) and minored in Special Education.  Upon graduation I was awarded a graduate assistantship and did my Masters in Elementary Education in a year's time.

I started as a teaching assistant in a full-day kindergarten in 1999 (the first year kindergarten went 'full day') and secured a teaching position the next fall.
I completed 3 years as a self-contained special education K-1 teacher and then switched tenure tracks to elementary education in September 2003 and have been teaching full day kindergarten every since!

I love kindergarten- I know it is the grade I am made to teach!  The growth you see in one short year from a kindergartner is amazing!  It can be tiring- but it is the most rewarding job on so many levels!

A bit about my personal life...
I live on Long Island with my husband and 2 beautiful boys.

My husband and I met in 2002.  We got engaged in 2004 and married in 2008.
He is my rock and such a great dad!  I can't imagine going through a day without him by my side!

Our son Thomas was born in June 2009!  He is a sweet, kind, sensitive and creative boy!
Our son Jonathan was born 15 months later in October 2010!  He is funny and loving and picks up things so easily....he is quite the firecracker too!

These boys are my life!  They have had me do things I never thought I would do...learn the names of trucks, pick up bugs, play Star Wars, build forts, learn Minecraft...the list can go on and on...but I wouldn't change it for the world!
I am now a true:

We L-O-V-E the water- we have to!  We live within walking distance to it!
All summer long you will find our toes in the sand and surf!

We love to go fishing too...well...the boys LOVE to go fishing...I LOVE spending time with them!

We recently surprised them with a trip to Disney!
What a fabulous week...and we loved the chances to be silly!

We don't have any pets yet, but they are in our near future....our son keeps asking for a dog!

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I started a fitness plan/goal in March of 2015!
I was so proud to meet my '100 Day' goal:
and started the next 100!
My ultimate goal is to lose 50 pounds and be the most healthiest wife, mommy and teacher I can be!
I am now semi-addicted to exercising!
I am on my elliptical every morning at 4:45am and complete between 5-7 miles.  I take Sundays off to lounge with the my family, have quiet coffee and catch up for the week!
My amazing husband has been my cheerleader from the start- I wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't have his daily support and guidance (do you know he packs my lunch (and the boys) everyday so I can spend time downstairs exercising?!  AND most nights he cooks...yes...I am very lucky!)

My Recent Professional Endeavors!
Summer of 2015 I finally crossed something off my bucket list...I attended the National 'I Teach K' Conference in Las Vegas, NV!  It was my first week away from my boys but I learned so much and got to meet so many 'friends' I had previously only known through blogging!

After all the daytime classes, there was some time for evening fun and giggles!

I also attended the TpT Conference and got to meet Paul Edelman- the founder of Teachers Pay Teachers!  I was a bit star-struck!

If you don't already know, I also blog on a collaborative blog, The Primary Pack, with these wonderful ladies:
You will find posts from me on the 24th of each month!

And recently got to meet my blog designer, Alexis Sanchez of Laugh, Eat, Learn!

I also got to chat with some online buddies from a Product Editing Support group!  It was so nice to finally put real faces (and voices) to the friends I have been 'chatting' with for almost 2 years!

Blogging and selling on Teachers Pay Teachers has also led me to meet-ups!
October 2014 I got to go to NYC to meet all of these TpTers and bloggers:
These are all experiences I would not have had the chance to do had I not started blogging!

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading about my life and journey as a blogger!
I hope a little of what I share helps you in a BIG way!
